We provide the secretariat to the Employers' Sides of the National Joint Council for Local Authority Fire and Rescue Services, the Middle Managers' Negotiating Body, and the NJC for Brigade Managers of Local Authority Fire and Rescue Services.

The National Joint Council for Local Authority Fire and Rescue Services reached an agreement regarding COVID-19 support work. The agreement supersedes the previous tripartite agreement, building upon the valuable contribution provided through that approach. Two further additional activities have also been added to the agreement. A further statement has also been issued around vaccinations.

The National Joint Council has agreed an increase of 2.0 per cent on basic pay and continual professional development payments effective from 1 July 2020. Find out more about the revised pay rates.

Following a round of detailed consultation meetings with fire authority Chairs & Chief Fire Officers the National Employers made an offer to the employees side of the NJC for Local Authority Fire and Rescue Services on 28 July of a 2 per cent uplift on basic pay and continual professional development (CPD) rates, which would be effective from 1 July. The Fire Brigades Union has indicated that it will consult its members on the offer.
Emergency Medical Response by Fire and Rescue Services
Following trials undertaken by a significant number of services through the auspices of the National Joint Council for Local Authority Fire and Rescue Services, it commissioned a report by 'New Economy' which illustrates a cost benefit model on a UK-wide footprint, with a specific focus on the impact of cardiac arrest response on long-term health and social care outcomes.
